Our History
The Brussels Leo Club was first organized in 1976 by the Brussels Lions Club. The club was very popular among local youth for many years following its creation of the club, however, the club faltered in the mid-1990s and was closed.
With a resurgence in engaging youth in the late 2000s and early 2010s, the Brussels Lions Club announced in April that it would restart the Brussels Leo Club.
The revived club started strong with 15 members inducted into the club on the charter night. Despite starting strong, the Brussels Leo Club had major challenges keeping the members as existing members grew out of the club and were not replaced with new members of the community.
By late-2018, the number of the members in the club dropped to as low as 2 with the Leo Club questioning whether or not it should continue to exist.
With a shuffle in the organization of the club and a maximized effort to regrow the club, the Brussels Leo Club spent the final years of the 2010s growing the club to what it has become today.
